I can see what my first graders were doing around this time last year. It is kind of amazing how much they have progressed in just one year. Some of my students still student with basic phoneme segmentation while others are reading chapter books though.

\nI had a day where I could not speak either! It was strange to hand control back over to the teacher because I was so used to teaching when I was there. The students told me that I just needed to clear my throat or get a drink of water. :) I have stayed sick this semester with colds and a horrible stomach virus. I am really hoping I build up immunity to their illnesses!

\nI also share groups with the teacher in my room. It's a little different though because she takes two group and I take two groups each day. I love that the students are able to get some more small group time by having each of us in there because usually they some groups would get left out each day. I still take too long with my small groups though. Hopefully you do better with time management!

I to have some students I have problems controlling. There is one student who no matter what I try does not listen to me at all. I have been lucky I had a little cold last week, but other than that I have not gotten sick. That was probably miserable for you to teach when you were sick. I find that by the time I finish my daily lessons my voice sometimes is weak. I can only imagine how difficult it would be if I were sick. It sounds like you are doing well getting to know your students.
